Grace

The other night as we were sitting down at the dinner table, Sadie started this conversation...

S: "You have to say those words first"
Me: "What words?"
S: "Those words that the man at Aunt Shirley's house said"
Me: "Huh?"
S: "Those words that Grandpa says before dinner"

And then it dawned on me that she was asking to say grace before dinner.  After pausing to think about it, I explained to her that we don't really say those same words at our house, but I suggested that we can talk about what we are thankful for before we eat dinner...and that that is pretty much the same thing as saying grace.

So we started with Brian and he told us that he was grateful to have lots of work from his clients that day.  I said I was grateful for my friends at work that day.

Then Sadie stated without hesitation, "I'm thankful for my long, beautiful, light-pink, light-purple, light-blue ponytail".

Someday love, someday....

Sunday Afternoon Bliss

It's not guaranteed that Sadie will take a long nap if I'm in the bed with her, but even so,I'd like to do this more often. We were both exhausted (me from a late night after the house concert and her from playing hard at grandma and grandpa's all weekend) and we rocked an almost three hour nap. It was glorious.

Backward and Forward: Spiritual

When I started my "Backward and Forward" posts I thought I might have something to say about the past year and the coming year, from a spiritual perspective. I got nothin'. That about sums up my spiritual self. It's something I'd like to focus on more and explore at some point in my life...but for now, it doesn't seem to be something I think about or ponder too often, or feel the need to, for that matter.

I like this though....

Baking Bread

This is what I've always wanted. Baking bread, in my kitchen that I love, while my husband was likely playing clawhammer banjo in the background, teaching my little sprite of a daughter how to knead the dough. Love.

Stylish

Sadie had a great time decorating Poppy with some beautiful princess stickers at breakfast yesterday.

Three

As we like to do in our family, we celebrated Sadie's third birthday for an entire week. Started off her actual birthday with breakfast in bed, gifts, a day at the Museum of Nature and Science, lunch, cupcakes at The Shoppe in Denver, and ended the night with a new Olivia movie.
The next weekend it was a pink and purple party with family and close friends. Pink and purple balloons, a pink made-by-mama cake, and of course princess gifts galore!
