Yay for Weddings!

Here's a sneak peak of the photos that Jeff and Susie's wedding photographer took: http://www.tonygallagherphotography.com/susie_jeff/

Well, she's officially a Peterson! My husband's brother Jeff got married to his beautiful bride, Susie, and it was the most lovely weekend! (look at my husband looking spiffy as the best man in his chocolate brown pinstripe suit)!

There was plenty to do, starting on Thursday afternoon. I took the afternoon off to accompany Susie to the hair salon for her second try at a "practice" hairstyle for her wedding day. I'm not even going to go into it, except to say that when we left, Susie had cancelled hair and makeup appointments for 8 people, herself included. Now, keep in mind, that the wedding was two days away at this point. Needless to say, I was feeling a little panicked.

Susie, however, was completely optimistic, calm, and was sure that she'd find a salon with room for eight women on a Saturday morning...and her optimism paid off! We walked right into the Aveda Institute, where students train to become stylists, and they booked Susie and the entire wedding party! It was a miracle. Frankly, I didn't have much faith that she could pull that one off. And the other place lost about $800-$1,000 in business....and they deserved it.
Things only got better after that. We definitely needed a drink after all the salon drama...and enjoyed a moment of downtime together over a glass of sangria. Thursday afternoon and evening, many of the guests started arriving from out of town, and we had a great time getting to know some of Susie's extended family and friends at a local wine bar.
Friday included the rehearsal at the church and a wonderful party hosted by my mother-in-law and father-in-law, Doug and Chris Peterson. It was held at the hotel where all the guests were staying. Jeff and Susie were so happy to see all their friends and family in one room...you could just see it in their faces. And the fun was just beginning!

The wedding on Saturday was at Susie's church in Denver. The ceremony was just gorgeous. There weren't many dry eyes in the place. Susie was the most beautiful bride and she and Jeff looked so happy.

Look how pretty the flowers were!

Afterwards, we had a great time riding in a Hummer limo between the church and the reception hall, and we stopped at a really neat location in downtown Denver for pictures.

It was a bit chilly to be out in that wind for so long though.

The reception was a great party! There were a million candles, so the whole room, and the two fireplaces, just flickered. The flowers (tulips again) were beautiful and the food was great. And unlike at my own wedding, I actually got to sit down and eat the whole meal (and Jeff and Suze did too!)

The first dance was one of the best parts of the night. They started dancing to a great Ray LaMontagne song and it was beautiful. Then in the middle of it, the music changed up to a fast-paced Mexican song. And they finished the dance with some hot "latin-type" dancing that was well-rehearsed and looked great! No one saw that coming!

The speeches were lovely. My hubby pulled it off really well. His speech was a perfect mixture of funny and sweet, and again, lots of tears in the crowd.
Jeff gave the last speech and thanked everyone for coming. He managed to throw in a request for everyone in the crowd to find out from Brian and me when we're having babies and to let our mothers know!!! I couldn't believe he said that.....pretty funny.
The best part is that Susie got to dance most of the night....and there were a lot of other people out on the dance floor with her. And that's all she wanted at her wedding; good music and everyone dancing. It made me so happy to see her get her wish.

We couldn't be more happy for the newlyweds. They are a wonderful, beautiful couple, and I'm so happy that they're my family :) And by the way, I still haven't stopped crying.
Oh, by the way, thanks to Susie's best friend Sandra for the beautiful pictures!
